Co-cars, the South West’s hire-by-the-hour car club, has announced an exciting new location for one of its Salisbury cars. Starting 4 April, the Toyota Yaris Hybrid will be available from outside the old Steam Laundry on Salt Lane.
To mark the occasion, Councillor Atiqual Hoque (St Edmund and Milford) cut the ribbon at the new location, commenting “I’m delighted to launch Co-cars’ dedicated space in Salt Lane. By encouraging people to share a car, they are helping to tackle Salisbury’s congestion and air pollution problems, making our city a cleaner and greener place to live and work.”
Benji Goehl, a Co-cars director and Salisbury resident, added “I hope this move will spur on more people to join the ‘Co’ family and experience the benefits of moving from car ownership to car club. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Wiltshire Council whose support has made this move possible.”
Previously located in Central Car Park, the new location has been chosen for greater visibility, helping raise awareness of the car club’s shared mobility offer. A Co-car (Honda Jazz) is also available to hire from York Road, just off St Paul’s Roundabout.
Members can book a car from as little as half an hour and, alongside a modest annual membership fee, only pay for the hours they use plus mileage. As well as Salisbury, cars are also available in Dorchester, Exeter, Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Truro, Falmouth and Penryn.
All Co-cars can be booked 24/7 via desktop and mobile devices, with hire costs range from £3.75 to £4.75 per hour plus 18p per mile.* Hire costs are inclusive of fuel, insurance and roadside assistance. Joining is easy, simply visit www.co-cars.co.uk/join and complete the online application form for business, individual or household membership. Businesses can also contact Co-cars to discuss options around having a car dedicated for their exclusive use.
